Rich,
Thanks so much for getting in touch with me. It looks like we were on the ship together but I'm afraid to say that I don't remember too many of my Segundo shipmates and it has been many years since I've heard from anyone. Perhaps you may remember me. I went on mess cooking the day after I reported aboard. The chief cook at that time was Shakey Jake. My bunk was right under the acid traps in the after battery berthing space (by the door to the crews mess.

I was the Chief Corpsman on the 398 from 53 to 54. I left before the WESTPAC. Robert Aiken was the XO and I understand he went on to be the CO. I have not been able to attend reunions as I have lung cancer which keeps me nailed down.
Much thanks for any info you can send

Hi, I am James Roy Wehner's daughter. (I had e-mailed to say what a great site you had, as I was able to bring up great photos of my dad, who passed away back in 1977.) My mother, JoAnn Wehner, is still alive and I am sure she would love to hear from any of the Navy wifes who might remember her. If anyone wants to email me I will make sure that she receives anything that comes thru.
Most sincerely,
Janice Powell

Reported as an ET3 in 1964. Slated for Nuclear Power training, was expected to stay for only six months. Enjoyed the boat so much, I asked to stay and was extended one year for WestPac trip. Great experience, best memories of a 25 year career in Navy. Went on to aviation, flying in 72/73 in Vietnam, retired 87. Remember Prok, Tamburelli, Davis brothers, and others. Thanks for site where I can recall many great memories. Would like to hear from others I served with.

My beloved dad Eugene (Gene) Blanchfield was a fireman aboard the Segundo 1944-46. I have enjoyed the site very much as I search the photos for a glimpse of his face. The website is very well done and I still haven\'t read all the sea stories. I guess its why I keep coming back. On June 10, 2006 my brother, sister and I spread his ashes out at sea in front of the Barnegat Lighthouse in New Jersey. How we all miss him.

Hi Rich,
I served on Segundo from 1958 to 1961. My nickname at the time was

I remember you very well if you are the Petersen that was aboard
Segundo at that time.
Please feel free send me an e-mail and tell me about yourself..
Thanks,

Fantastic Web page! Just spent the last hour looking through your site looking for some memories of the best father-in-law I could have asked for.
You guys knew him as Prok. Man, I really miss that big guy. Here's a toast to the memory of Clair E. Prokupek. God bless you all.
Sincerely,
Joe T.

Really well done. Every boat should be so lucky to have a motivated crew to maintain a site like this. Keep up the great work!

Enjoy the web site very much. My father, Carlo M. Carlucci, served aboard the Segundo at the end of the War. Since he doesn't own a computer, I'm going to print some of these pictures / documents for him as a Christmas present, especially the log reports about the boarding of the I-401 (he was a member of the boarding party).
