I'll always remember that the Navy chose the USS Salmon (my brother was CO at the time) to sink the Segundo. Just took a trip down memory lane, recognizing several of the names of Shipmates I served with. Retired in 1982 from GUDGEON. Now a member of the Inland Empire Base, USSVI, Richland, WA. The website is great! Glad I found it. Keep up the great work. Roster left off most important man of Segundo. (About the only enlisted man to win a silver star during the war.) Speaking of TMC George (Gezil) Zelina.. He was COB when I went aboard in 1948... He had been aboard Segundo for a few years then.. He passed away about 10 years ago in near Cleveland. Also, Missing two names I'd like to see on that don't appear on the roster. 1. BJ Young QM, and Bob Kittle (TM) All them were aboard Segundo during my time('48-52).Go           David Clayton added these comments on 2008-03-29 at 10:49:08 1/30/06 Hi I am trying to find my god father. His name was Steve Johnson and was the CO of SEGUNDO at the end of WWII. Both of my parents have passed on and I am trying to see what happend to Steve. Clayton, USN (Ret)           Harvey Renshaw added these comments on 2008-03-29 at 10:47:35 12/28/05 I served aboard the Segundo in 1949 when she made the NAVY E cruise to the orient. Was also aboard when we were "run-over" by a transport ship. I recognise a handful of names from the website roster and am anxious to contact some of them. After my enlistment, I became an Electronics Engineer. From there I went to Western Electric and Bell Telephone Labs working in Submarine and ASW programs. The Segundo is the only submarine I served on. My qualification date was September 16, 1963.
